Week 2 - Australian Open - men's qualifying (outdoor hard)

I thought that as well Steven but Brooksby is not showing on the entry list as withdrawn yet. You are probably right though, really annoying either way as there will certainly be a few more withdrawals.

Once qualifying has started, any main draw withdrawals don't result in players in qualifying moving up (though I think that does happen if the Q draw has been made but play hasn't started in any qualifying matches), they result in lucky loser places instead.

However, with QR1 spread over two days, it's feasible that we might get a couple more withdrawals from qualifying in time for Ryan to get in.

Vavassori Replaced Borges making Peniston the next one in. But not many matches to ply for someone to withdraw.

Tough next match for Liam and if he gets through that potentially Safiullin who was on fire at the ATP Cup and beat Tomic in under an hour.

Im up and around tonight watching Liam live so will add a few posts to his progress again.

Early break to Liam 2-1 first set at the moment, looks well up for it. Another player who looks physically stronger again last year or two Ive noticed in Liam. Important given lack of killer weapon Id say.

3-1 Liam, some good serves there to fend off the Wolf from 15-30, who looks annoyed at an UE for his chance at break points.

*3-2

Liam had two break points, but an ace and a missed lob from Liam was enough for Wolf to hold.

Those shorts look like some sort of heat map

3-3*

Wolf breaks back after Liam goes long on game point. A couple of break points and deuces and he takes it.
