Week 2 - ITF Challenger - Forli, Italy 2 $80K (Indoor Hard)

F - Jack Draper (8) WR 262 defeated Jay Clarke (3) WR 211 6-3 6-0 biggrinbleh

i like Jay, but it has to be said that Jack was the better player and thoroughly deserved it. He was firing winners all around and Jay was shaking his head in disbelief near the end.

Great week for our guys (Paul and Aidan too) and lets hope this will be a springboard for a successful 2022 for them all.

Jack won 6-3 6-0

Didn't see the match but the score is a bit severe.

And, yes, I agree, Priesty - I think this is going to be a break-through year for Jack. (I have him at 140 at the end of the year.....who knows.....but it feels like he's sort of lining up for a big jump)

ADD: crossed with Priesty. Thanks for the summary - I like the sound of those winners left, right and centre  biggrin

I watched  most of this match. It is the first time I've seen JD.  He plays a big game. In the first set, his execution was not all that great. His shot selection was fine, he just missed more than he should have. This improved in the secong set.

I hope the Jack can back up this break through week with at least a few wins next week.  He needs to get used to the feeling of winning matches day in, day out.  He'll be under the radar next week though!

The quality of the stream was not spectacular.  Indoors, they struggle for space - it isn't possible to put the camera sufficiently far behind the court and the camera they were using was not top of the range.

You reckon???

Watch this space.....

Seriously, I don't know (obviously!!!!) but I don't think 140 is so outlandish.....he'll get a WC into lots of grass events and he's good on grass. You just need a few good matches, good draws, a little bit of injury free decent court time - it doesn't take that much to make a big jump up.... anyway, you can't blame a person for being glass half-full

So Jack is going to win the US Open next right? Thats how this works for young Brits, right?

If he won the US Open, he'd be 14 or so, not 140

I'm with CD, I think 140 is definitely doable. I'm guessing he'll only be about 100 spots off after this week, not much to defend before the grass season due to having caught Covid last winter, nothing to defend between Queens and the indoor season due to having twisted his ankle. And after last year his Wimbledon draw can only improve!

Whilst doing a Radders is highly unlikely I'd say top 150 by year end is a very realistic target.

The highest prediction out of 21) was 240 with the lowest 120 - and the average 160. So slightly on the optimistic side, but certainly not outlandish. But heeds to get to around 500 ponts, which is double where he was before this week.

This win takes him near top 200, and hes 34 in the early race. Not outlandish. We all remember queens and Wimbledon last year, he has the game.

I saw him on telly, didn't he take a set off Djokovic once?  I think it was that match, but to me he looks so like Isner on court.
