If Liam can stay in this Kyrgios level is surely going to drop. It might not be over yet basically.

21 Aces and 81% first serves from Nick. Liam did well to compete for so long - Nick could beat almost everyone in the draw if he can keep it up.

Oh no....Nick from 3, 4 5 years ago maybe. This Nick more or less doesn't care. It would awful if he won the slam, for tennis and very disappointing for me of all the players who actually turn up and play and use their talent as much as possible

Tough draw for Liam. Only saw bits of it but Kyrgios looked to be at this best, probably fired up by a hometown crowd.

So the circumstances around Novak not playing.....how does that impact his points.  I presume his 2000 points from winning it last time still drop??

If this is the case, and the live ATP rankings are correct, it implies there could be a new #1 by the end of the tournament if either Medvedev or Zverev win it. (Djokovic down to 9015, Medvedev 10925 (max), Zverev 9250 (max)).

Medvedev or Zverev could indeed go to WR 1 by winning the Aus Open but I believe not until the anniversary of Djokovic winning the delayed Aus Open 2021.

Murray is going to put us through the ringer again here. Part of me almost wants it over quickly regardless of who wins.

the wringer as in the mangle, but your pages and pages of clear, entertaining match reports do go some way towards making up for it :)

I know we've been over this before, but the table Aberdaberdonian posted is from Novak's ranking breakdown on the ATP website.

Be better if that's indeed the case - ie. just have points for Aus Open 2022 immediately following the event.

I had just wondered that it might be delayed. And then in a Radio 5 Live discussion last week with Russell Fuller and Gigi Salmon it was fairly emphatically said that there would be that delay.
