I apologise to Liam I turned on with being 1-1 40-15 to Liam. He then didnt get another point to be broken and then lost serve again to go 4-1 down. Ive turned off now Liam!

i've just checked in to see how he was doing, and yeah, hmm, not doing great. Its now 5-1 to the Canadian.

Make that 6-1.  First set down the pan. cry

Liam will fight back and win in 3. I predict a close 2nd set then he will run away with the third

I hope you are right!  But that isn't the vibe I get. The 2nd set is very close.

Liam saved 4 match points on his own serve.  5-5 in the 2nd

'Fraid not, Jagster. And, honestly, Liam didn't deserve to win. Pretty poor tennis really....

Liam lost the 2nd set 7-5.  The observation I make (I only watched the 2nd set) is that he did not boss any of his service games. He hit ffew  (if any) serice winners and his serve never set up the opportunity to finish the point. I am disappointed for him. I feel that this is the kind of match that he should be winning if he is going to break into the top 100 which must surely be his principal objective.

The only positive is that he can get to Dallas to sign in for qualies for next week's ATP250.

Watched the 2nd set he really struggled on serve didnt he. Losing to a player 250 odd places below his ranking isnt ideal. Although gives him plenty time to rest up and practice ahead of Im assuming Dallas qualies next week.

Should really be targeting ATP qualifying rather than challengers anyway. Oddly enough I think he will find more joy there regardless of todays result.

Liam is indeed down for the Dallas ATP 250 and the Delray Beach ATP 250 over the next 2 weeks.

There were no North American ATP tour opportunities this week ( the ATP 250s being in France, India and on Argentinian clay ) so this challenger made sense.

And yes hopefully he will be well prepared for Dallas Q.

Doesnt sound like hes had the best prep. According to Liams IG story wanted to fly yesterday for a training day today but no Cleveland to Dallas flights due to a snowstorm. Ended up flying to Chicago then onto Austin and so far driven to Temple which I think is a few hours from Dallas.

Looks like Temple is just over 100 miles away, so not too far
