Week 6 - ITF M25 - Shrewsbury, UK (indoor hard)

Well, that's good news (although after the first LL spot going to the RSA player, there were NO foreign lucky losers left.....)

But Sean put out a good show yesterday and glad he's got another chance (and a little cash).

And elsewhere, our first one home is Felix

L32: Felix Gill WR 560 def. Jeremy Jahn (GER) WR 554 7-5 6-3

And he did it !!

Super win by Henry Patten, 6-4 in the third

Excellent last couple of games in particular. Clean winner backhand for the MP (after a sublime point at 0-30)

Was very close all the way though.

He did really well to get that match after losing the first set.

That is a good win for Henry P, well done to him!

And guarantees a British QF place in that section as he plays Charlie B or Stuart P next up.

Never really in doubt, that match, but Jack PJ played very well, to make it clean and easy, 6-2 6-3

PS You're spot on at the moment, we're 8 to date.

BUT with Paul Jubb and Ali G to come (and young Oliver Tarvet, whom I've a lot of time for, doing well too.....)

I agree and quite happy to be also! I think 8 is guaranteed now with Charlie v Stuart , and still Ali and Paul to come, plus Oliver Tarvet playing

Oliver Tarvet takes the first set in a tie break (7-1) against the world 515 with a beautiful drop shot

He was upset by that call on his first serve in the first point but I think I saw it just out....

Billy Harris' win earlier means that (so far) he is the only mens or womens player to have won a main draw match at all 3 of the M/W25 events played in GB this year. I say so far, as Ali Gray could also get a win at all 3 if he wins his match which is currently being played, and he should.

I agree but he recomposed himself and took the second set and the match and was clearly delighted to win!

What a shame CD. He let out an overjoyed roar at the end! Yes a really good win, which he definitely deserved. Lovely depth to his ground strokes and used the angles well.
