Excellent stuff from Liam. Delighted for him.

Right now he's about 80 points away....so almost in touching distance, but he looks to be defending alot of points in Feb, so that could quickly change.

Well done Liam. Had he won a main tour match before outside Britain ? Or at all?

He won in St. Petersburg a few years back when he reached the Quarters of an ATP after coming through qualifying.  I seem to recall he beat Mannarino during that run.

A good win. What a terrible run Peter has been on though. 10 match losing streak going back to September!

ATP has him down as this is his 10th match win which includes 2 at Wimbledon and 2 at the Olympics. He has 6 on the regular ATP tour of which five are outside the UK. He reached the QF of St. Petersburg in 2017.

This was Liam's 10th main draw singles win at tour level, of which 5 have been wins at ATP Tour events outside the UK, all as a qualifier:

2017 St Petersburg R1 v (Q) Gulbis

2017 St Petersburg R2 v (4) Mannarino

2018 Miami R1 v (Q) Fratangelo

2021 Cagliari R1 v (Q) Hüsler

2022 Dallas R1 v Gojowczyk

The other 5 include 2 at Wimbledon (2015 v Matosevic, 2021 v Cecchinatto), 1 at Eastbourne (2021 v Tiafoe) and the 2 wins at the Olympics,(v Cerundolo and (7) Hurkacz) which isn't really main tour but is tour standard!

Yes, Liam has so far added 32 (net 22) points for next Monday but in total is then due to drop a total of 114 (net 87) points over the following two weeks. Current OER projection is 524 points at 28/02.

So he may drop back again over the next few weeks but beyond that it is looking good especially if he keeps on winning!
