Thank you Wolf - to you and PeterToo on the womens, and SC when she is back, it takes a big effort to do these lists.

Appreciated

Ditto to the brilliant work thanks to the draw posters - especially the home draws - that's not a five second job !

As per the other threads, the q wildcards have basically gone to one cohort, almost like the GB US college contender team.

Matt Rankin (who was a shoe-in for some wildcard, I was half expecting a MD one) is our top junior - born 2004, ITF JWR 84
Louis Bowden - born 2004, ITF JWR 107
Pat Brady - born 2004, ITF JWR 116
Roan Jones - born 2003 - CH JWR 442
Oliver Tarvet - born 2003 - CH JWR 189

Oliver had a great run last week in Shrewsbury, winning four matches and making the QFs
That was his first adult event.
Roan Jones lost to Sizya in QR1 in qualis in Bath (but had some quali wins in Tunisia last year)

In terms of other juniors/teenagers:

Yujiro Onuma is also 2004-born (also lost in QR1 in Shrewsbury, and Loughborough)

Matt Southcombe and Miles Groom are also 2003-born.

Also, really great to see Nico Rosenzweig back !!!!

Old-timers on this board will remember him well.

Part of the Stirling academy coaching team, I believe, he's French, and now 36 - got up to 650 or so in singles, but used to play doubles all the time with GB players (usually the players from Stirling).

Remember him playing with Ewen Lumsden (Maia's brother) a lot. And Scott Duncan.

It was always a bit funny how he could make a living coaching when the guy plays ambidextrously, playing a forehand on each side.

The men's matches have started and, after speculation, they are being livestreamed.

Which is good news

First time I've ever seen Matt Rankin play.

Not that impressed.

I know that he might be nervous, and it's not easy to judge on one game, but you're looking more at timing, shaping of shots etc - i.e. not the actual match.

It's decent, of course, but compared with Henry Searle and Oliver Tarvet who both really stood out, I'm not a Matt fan....(bet he's gutted )

The tournament referee will thinking of ordering in take-out for tonight - two hours in and we're only just about finishing the first set of matches

So far, Sean beat Nico in three sets, which gets rid of one 'pesky' (although quasi-Brit)

Wins also for Sizya and Scott (Matt should have won that second set though)

Irish Osgar also beat the roumanian ALT

And Matt and Jack still playing.........

Woken up to future problems and has started play on Court 2 a little earlier. This court might be needed later on even though only two matches scheduled

to be on it.
