Week 7 - ITF M25 - Glasgow, UK - (indoor hard)

Glad they're thinking ahead

Pleased for Miles Groom, whom I like, getting the first set against Ben Jones

Off to watch a bit of Patrick Brady.

Sadly Oliver Travert has retired following an MTO

Oliver Tarvet had a long MTO, lying on a towel (hip? back?)

And then sensibly retired - he played a lot of long tight matches last week.

Shame not to be fit here (especially with getting a wildcard) but he's already had a very good run this month

Congrats to (wc) Roan Jones, age 18, who gets a win in qualis over Mike Shaw

Liam Hignett gets a good win over the French quali seed, 6-3 6-1

But Max Benaim has lost to the Thai Q10 player, 4 & 4

Also, really great to see Nico Rosenzweig back !!!!

Old-timers on this board will remember him well.

Part of the Stirling academy coaching team, I believe, he's French, and now 36 - got up to 650 or so in singles, but used to play doubles all the time with GB players (usually the players from Stirling).

Remember him playing with Ewen Lumsden (Maia's brother) a lot. And Scott Duncan.

It was always a bit funny how he could make a living coaching when the guy plays ambidextrously, playing a forehand on each side.

Oh no, am I an old timer? disbelief

Glad to see Nico out and about - remember watching him live a few years back, and was fascinated by those forehands!

Yep, you and me both, Tennpar

Miles Groom had three MPs in the second set for his match - and hit a horrible DF on the first so really only has himself to blame (no problems with the other two ones, but you don't get many - you can't DF like that).

And lost the MTB.

A learning experience....

Canter and Brady are 6-6 in the MTB - honestly, that court has a 'go-slow' spell cast over it....

Young Patrick had his chances but, like Miles, the slightly more experienced player nudged it in the end - win to Alexis.

Ying Hou got an easy win over the Irish player

Kyle Rae took the American to a MTB, playing decent aggressive tennis, but was slightly behind all the way and lost 6-10

Josh P has just beaten Joe N-B.

Which leaves the graveyard court & as the only one left with men's matches (and that could be there for another hour yet)

I just saw that too biggrin

Various scenarios:

someone ate something a bit dodgy last night?

someone forgot to do as his mother had always told him and 'remember to go before you go out'?

the umpire hit the wrong button on the gizmo and it's an MTO?
