Just realised there are only 6 mens singles and 6 womens singles on todays schedule, with all first round doubles in the mens due to be played.
I am interested in why different tournies go down different scheduling approaches - part of me thought that there might be a typical starting structure that all events follow eg all 16 first round Tuesday which only gets adjusted by factors like rain delays etc, but clearly they have complete latitude?

Yes, it is very variable, partly no doubt due to how many courts are available.
Here, with the men/women double up the R1 singles ties overall were always extremely likely going to be spread over 2 days but it is obviously a tournament choice to put on so many doubles today and hold back most of the singles until tomorrow.

Tomorrow is all singles, the remaining mens and womens singles are all being played, no doubles.
