Week 7 - ATP Challenger 80 - Forli, Italy (indoor hard)

For all those of my vintage who got the pun, congratulations. The clue was definitely in the spelling of Baron instead of barren.

For those too young to remember, Baron von Richthofen (German spelling) - aka The Red Baron - was allegedly the greatest 'ace' pilot in WW1.

And especially for Christine.

OK. Back to the tennis please.

After a shakey opening service game (2 doubles and a break point) Jack romps through the first set 6-1

Jack breaks to go 2-1 up in the second. Looking like one way traffick at the moment

I'm not sure what has happened to Tim VR. He started very strongly and Jack struggled in the first 3 games.

Jack now 3-1 up

Despite a couple of horrible drop shots, Jack breaks again. 4-1

Safe to say Jack needs to work on that drop shot a bit. But other than that, his game looks in pretty good order.

*4-1

Edit

So basically what Jiwan said smile

5-2 and now serving for the match. His opponent looks spent. A big effort to get to the final as a qualifier

Total domination from Jack. He wins 6-1 6-2. First time i've seen him on a hard court. He looked great

I remember a recent debate about whether 140 as a year end ranking was an overly optimistic prediction for Jack..... I would say most definitely not now!
