Week 8 - ATP 500 - Acapulco, Mexico (outdoor hard)

Just to say, I see Zverev and Brooksby are on court right now, close to end of first set so maybe an hour or even two to go - it is 0311am over in Acapulco right now, presumably the lights are on and dawn could be coming up when they finish this!!

I realise they arent starting play until 7 pm each night, Cam, Jamie and Lloyd and various partners should expect some late nights though!

It looks as though Cam's match has been moved to today, second on.

Just started the 3rd. According to my livescores app the 2nd set was 1hour 52 minutes long!

They finally finished at 4:54 am. Probably missed dinner in the hotel but breakfast might just be starting!

Bit of a difference between the two main courts in court time
Estadio
Isner - Verdasco 3:11
Kozlov - Dimitrov 3:18
Zverev - Brooksby 3:22
9 hours 51 minutes

Grandstand
Fritz - Mannarino 1:32
Lajovic - Korda 2:43
Carreno-Busta - Otte 1:17
5 hours 32 minutes

In a match with the latest ever finish in professional tennis history (4.55am), defending champion Alexander Zverev saves two match points and comes back to beat Jenson Brooksby 3-6, 7-6(10), 6-2, in 3h20.

to be fair, kudos to Zverev and Brooksby for fighting it out at that time. It must have been tempting to throw in the towel at any stage!

Lloyd just won his doubles match against Zverev, if you are wondering why Im commenting on as such then watch the very end. Zverev is a disgrace. More or less assaulting the umpire with his racket smashing it on the umpires seat stand and dropping F bombs left right and centre.

Zverev seems to be an angry young man. The sooner the tennis bodies take action against him the better. And Im not just referring to tonight either. Tick-tock

I dont even think the tennis bodies have started their investigation into the abuse stuff. The lady concerned says shes not been interviewed yet even though they opened it in October.

and yes. A dislikable character.

Well done Cam and Isner time again. Hopefully, Cam has him tamed.
