Yes pity. After a break apiece early in the second set, Dan saved a total of 6 MPs in the *4-5 and *5-6 games but not a 7th.

I think Dan played well, but the first serve wasn't always there and then it becomes hard work.

He played some beautiful shots - which is why I enjoy watching him so much - but not enough of them to win.

I have no desire to see Mr Murray retire, and of course he should play for as long as he is eligible and wishes to, but I wonder what drives him on as a former world number one that can now only play at 50-100 level.
