US Open trip

Hi. Seriously considering a trip to US Open this year.

Has anyone on here been and have any tips around best places to stay, when to go, best courts for seeing Brits?

Thinking might be an ideas to book flights now before fuel prices rocket, are covid restrictions still in place?

Any contribution welcome

Yes, I've been but given it was back in 2008 and I stayed across the river near Newark Airport and commuted into NYC I'm not sure I can be of much help.

At that time I bought tickets for the final ( then Super ) Saturday and Sunday in advance though the remnants of a wee hurricane made that Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Anyway it was a good year to choose being when Andy beat Rafa in the SF before losing to Fed in the final. I also just walked up to the ticket booth on the day and and managed to get Ashe day and night tickets when Andy beat Wawrinka in the L16. Was in the gods but still found it fine. I also had a wander that day and caught some Brits in doubles. Nothing like as busy then on the outside courts as at Wimbledon. I have no idea about the ticket process now.

Anyway, all the best, I know nothing negative to put you off. Easy subway and overground train service to Flushing Meadows.

Hey Seagull, I live in New York (for the last 6 years) and have been to the US Open about the last 8. Very happy to answer any questions - feel free to send any questions via the DM's here or send me your email and I'd be happy to send you some recommendations.

Covid restrictions are currently in place, easier if you are fully vaccinated . Cheapest option is an antigen test, but no more than 24 hours pre departure - hopefully they may relax by June?? The VeriFLY app is useful.

As a follow up as flights are now booked.

Do we know when Emmas first match will be?

Is there any tradition like at Wimbledon to play first up on second day or anything?
