Now updated my post so we now know all but 4 of who we can play as Switzerland and Chile both won a deciding 5th rubber.
I actually fancy a tie against Korea or Finland, though I'm not sure where we'd play either.
Anyway, it won't be until last week of November that we find out the draw and possibly who gets the wildcards, I have a feeling Serbia may get another one and perhaps France.
With Spain, of course, the hosts. As per above, the 4 semis winners qualify for next year, plus presumably two wild cards to be selected, leaving 20 teams from those listed above to play a single home/away qualifier to produce 10 teams
To join the 6 in the finals next year.
Id never appreciated one of the main historic issues was how teams are selected - my reading is that the ATP want rankings to be used, and with that the idea of awarding ranking points to the DC would arise, as opposed to the ITF standing by captains selections. Personally , I dont give one jot over ranking points in a team event and think they arent needed. It doesnt change the attitudes of the players. But, anyway, seems for now they are pushing forwards together
Well, Dan wading into the DC doubles pair discussion - "it should have been me" -and to be fair he has a point as to why the Evo and Skupski pair was overlooked, certainly last year.
Certainly, he isnt holding back on his comments
I hope Dan backs this up the next few weeks with Peers and shows some decent doubles results, at his best he is a good player on the doubles court but hasnt been too hot recently, results wise

Maybe Dan should not have started a spat a few years ago about doubles with Jamie then?

Hey Belle (or Blue?) - I cant remember what Dan and Jamie argued about now but the crux of Dans argument now seems to be that Leon picked Joe and Neal and Joe and Andy , and Dan is better than all those guys. Based on what happened in Glasgow, he may have an argument, hard to say really as personally Ive not seen much of Dan playing doubles!

Look back to 2019, Jon
Dan said doubles was for lazy guys who couldn't be bothered to work hard enough for singles, and Louis Cayer was completely unqualified to take over at the LTA because all he ever did was coach some wannabe half-useless doubles players
Made me smile
But BB is probably right - didn't make himself any friends
Blue(or belle) or Flamingowings (FW) returns will do ;)
Dan is a good doubles player and has played with Neal but on the face of it, he doesn't play doubles as much AND Joe/Neal are both FAR more accomplished than he is (they have titles and slams after all). That said, people were saying it was Joe, not Andy that didn't play as well.
Ideally we would've gone for something like: Joe/Andy, Joe/Neal, Neal/Dan.

welcome back , FW, youve been missed! Or should I now say BB!

2019 wasn't long after Dan's return from his ban either.
Its nice he has seen the light....but I don't think Dan holds quite as much influence as others do.
