Week 37 - Davis Cup Finals 2022 (group stage partly in Glasgow 14-18th September)

How do the groups work.
Is it top team through only or top 2 or best runner up?

Hi - there are 4 groups of 4 at different venues this week. Top 2 in each group progress to the finals in November which are an 8 team straight knockout in Malaga. If we win the group this week we play a runner up from another group or if we are runners up we play a winner / I think we play the teams from the group taking place in Germany - draw for that already made

Cheers - this seems a very strong group especially GB and US

The us beat Kazakhstan , 2-0 up although losing doubles. They are almost through now to the finals in Malaga.

Britain face a must win battle with NL tomorrow - lose and we are out. Win and we are favourites to proceed but will still need to beat the Kazakhstan team on Sunday

Be interesting to see how Leon picks the team next time.

Play Netherlands, so BvZ and TdR are the singles players - Cam clearly at one; Dan or Andy at 2? Id probably stick with Evo.

Doubles - Joe plus Andy or Neal? I might well go Neal next time , particularly with Koolhof on the Dutch side. Andy to miss out and keep him fresher to play Kazakhstan if needed ?

Leon must give Neal a run today in the dubs after AM showing. Andy hasn't the mobility these days and it started to show after that first set. I do wonder if he is managing pain or soreness, bruising, he visibly stiffens after first sets to my eye.. I agree with your assessment Jon, AM should be rested unless there are other Injuries, concerns or niggles. Cam riding a wave right now and looks to be wearing the crown now in Glasgow as AM once did, great to see local boy and dad in the crowd. Dan will want to put the record straight today, I expect him to win. There are question marks with AM mobility now and I wonder if this really will be his last DC. We can only applaud what he has given to the flag and thankfully with Kedders and Jack going forward in the short to medium term the quad looks healthy.

Likewise.  Good on him for drawing attention to the issue.

I agree. I'm assuming it's for US TV?

Evans 6-4 6-4 Griekspoor

Nick Lester

Brilliant performance and Dan Evans gets GB up and running in great style. It was hard work, and it was always going to be against Tallon Griekspoor.
