Week 37 - Davis Cup Finals 2022 (group stage partly in Glasgow 14-18th September)

Excellent win for Dan to give its a good start to the tie. However, I think it's a mistake picking Andy for the doubles. Neal is the man in form and knows Wesley's games inside out so it's hard to understand the logic, other than Leon not wanting to say no if Andy wants to play. I think we have to hope Cam wins his match so that the doubles isn't needed.

Agree with this - although in the groups winning 3-0 is important. If we win 2-1 and the Dutch beat the USA tomorrow , it could come down to higher maths

and winning in straight sets is therefore important as well! So well done Dan!

Cam loses and easily as well. Dang.

Must win doubles , lose and we are knocked out.

Ive been out and sadly cant watch but I am surprised this doesnt seem a very popular event on here - Davis Cup is still Davis Cup regardless of format or arent folks generally interested?

Really can't be arsed.  New format not working, IMHO.  no

That was awful to watch. Similar to how Cam played against Rublev in US open. So many errors and offering little attacking threat. Very odd

Ive switched over to Katies match in Chennai, after earlier watching Harriet in doubles over this.

 Yes, zero interest from me

No idea who's playing, or how or why...

But others may well be enjoying it....

I normally prefer watching women's events but team events are great. Plus I think the new DC format is excellent!

Is that the new format, CD , or that you just dont like the top level mens stuff? I have to say I like this format this year, beats the cinfusion of last years format, and is almost like the old one (ie half the matches involve the home team). 3 ties of 3 sets is fine as well, the 5 of 5 had its day and stretching matches over multiple days probably had its day as well

C'mon guys.

Huge follower and supporter of Andy over the years as I have been I was prerty unsure about his doubles selection vs USA but as I indicared was prepared to give it a go partly due to previous Joe/Neal losses and somehow hoping for more from Andy even with reduced mobility and lack of recent doubles competitive play.

On the USA evidence it does look as if he simply shouldn't be playing tonight unless there's sone real problem with Neal. He can't overcome the 'even with' to be of the required standard here.

You should certainly pick who you think is the best team to win irrespective of standing or past history. I would be very disappointed if there is any other reason for Andy playing over Neal.
