Wow, how Tomic has fallen. Didn't realise he'd dropped that far.

Jay won 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 biggrin

Could certainly do with a good run points wise with a fair few due to drop off.

Tomic was an ALT as well.

When you watch your guy serve for the match, get broken, then the opponent look very strong in the breaker to take it into a 3rd. You go to bed fearing the match had turned and the chance may be gone.

To wake up and see that Jay saw it home is a great feeling, the victory seems so much sweeter!

Oh that's brilliant. I was a bit nervous about this one.

Next round is either Gaio,  who's only won one match this season so far, and Alves who's won an M25 but not had to beat anyone in the top 300 this year. There are obviously no easy matches, but you'd probably choose that for Jay.

I continued to half watch the 3rd but was also worried after the end of the 2nd. Really didn't know what to make of Tomic. Just doesn't seem to completely want it. A strange enigma.

Jay Clarke and Renzo Olivo have withdrawn from their doubles first round match in Mexico City. The reason is a stomach problem for Jay Clarke.
