Out of interest, does anyone know if Ryan has changed his coaching team or anything over the last few years or has he had a difficult run of injuries in the past? It's just he's made so much progress after being in the 500s only three years ago.

He was at an American college, so a late starter on the tour.

I first came across him during lockdown and the team event that Jamie Murray organised, that must have helped him a lot

Don't know about previous injuries, at college, or whatever, but he did have that most dreadful cancer as a youngster.

I think it's worth highlighting, as he is proud of the amazing pioneering work St Barts did, and it's a life-affirming story that Ryan himself mentions, so is not private as such.

As to the progress though, wouldn't that be normal? As in, you won't start to improve your ranking until you're out of college (assuming you play very little ITF/ATP during college) so he'd then start climbing up, as he's done. Ali Gray's jump is even more marked. And Lloyd G was similar after he left college.

Got to 30 but got broken serving for it.

Pretty poor TB by Ryan, up to 4-6 down

Then a great point, as Evan really does have a little motor in those legs of his, and a lovely out-swinging lefty serve, to save two set points - 6-6

But got beaten by placement in the next point and then dumped a backhand in the net - and it's one set all

And tide has turned as Evan breaks early in set 3 . Could be running away now from Ryan
