Brandon Murphy's win has really opened up that side of the draw. No reason why Jan cannot go deep.

As said - or Brandon biggrin

Blinkin great win for Brandon over Jan - SO tight at the end - and Jan did get a tad unlucky on a couple of points - but that's tennis.

I've been singing Brandon's praises for several years now - clearly top 800 tennis - but he was very young and not in a place to be able to quite put it out there.

And now it seems to be happening for him. And playing even better. More like top-600 and counting. Looks stronger too.

These points (whatever they are smile) will make a big difference for him too, in terms of entries etc

Very good win for Brandon, well done that man!

I am not convinced by Jan's come back. Everyone keeps saying it will just be a matter of a short time to re enter the top 500 - but I havent seen evidence these past few weeks that he is playing that level of tennis to be be honest. He got 6 wins in the initial set of ITF events in Jan/Feb and has 3 from these first 3 spring events. He has lost to Broom, Anton, Anton again, lost in qualies twice in Portugal and now to Brandon Murphy, with an Italian last week thrown in.

At the moment, his ranking is probably about right, certainly not higher IMO

Tough looking match that for Alastair, just caught the last tie-break. Thought he was going to blow the tie-break when he gave up 2 match points on serve. Only to win it on his opponents serve on the next point.

6 so far into the last 8, with Stuart Parker playing (and leading) so far.

6 or 7 through would be fabulous.

Draw looks like

Murphy v Parker or Peliwo (6)
McHugh (3) v Harris (5)
Hussey v Reidi (4)
Weightman v Ali Gray (2)

BTW - anyone know, has Jonny Gray retired or is he just injured?
