Finn Bass isnt in qualies for Nottingham next week, nor is Toby Samuel. Finn drops out of the race then,

Basically, now, nothing more than a title for Charlie, Stuart , Toby or Mark W will do and that assumes Dan loses opening round or round 2 at the same time.
Dan gets the easier path as well and the odds dont look good for anyone else to overhaul him.
So, just to remind anyone following this, the matches might not be on grass today at Nottingham but it is a grass event and the results will count for anyone gaining a win in their totals.
Please see opening post in the thread for the rules , in case anyone thinks I am changing them!
That QF win by Dan over Toby last week does look as if it may have been very important. Stopped Toby in his tracks and Dan of course went on to the final.
They could meet in the QF again this week but an initial 2 wins would be enough for Dan. What was Toby doing accepting a MD WC?!
Dan Cox wins and it means that he is guaranteed at least equal top.
With Mark Whitehouse losing to Ali G, he is out of the running; Toby can still equal Dan with a title, as can both of Charlie and Stuart , who play shortly. All 3 of them need to title, whilst Dan loses in his next match.
If Dan wins another match or the above 3 fail to win the title, Dan is the outright winner

11am - Dan Cox plays Giles Hussey - in normal times, I would say this is a 50-50 call, but Dan has done better on grass. No pressure though, Dan, - and Giles, the world expects!
NB 12 noon - Stuart Parker versus Oscar Weightman - must win match for Stuart.
NB 12 noon - Toby Samuel plays Patrick Brady - must win for Toby also.
So, the big day was over and done with quickly as Dan beats Giles 1 and 5.
And so Dan is the winner of this little competition, the most grass court tournament wins by a Brit in 2022. And by some comfortable margin as well, he is 4 clear.
I will update the tables until the end of the event but hats off to Dan for taking this (although he didnt win an event along the way, it was consistency that did it) and congrats to Jaggy for spotting the opportunity for Dan and predicting he would get the most wins. Kudos.
