You've got to feel sorry for Thiem, often the nearly man, then at 26/27 years old, wins his first slam, gets to the YEC final, entering his prime, surely exciting times ahead, but it's been awful ever since. He went 9-10 in 2021, 0-7 this year, and he's now lost his last 11 matches, many of them in straight sets.

As per Delpo, wrist injuries are terrible and can ruin careers.
Yes, but at least he won a Slam.
I can't feel sorry for him like I do for Laura Robson or any of the very long list of players who never achieved anything really at all, given their potential.
Didn't realise that was the post that made me a 'Tennis legend' on here
Yeah, he's had an awful time with injuries, and even illness, and yeah, CD, at least he will always have that slam and will go down in history, still very unfortunate though, especially as he probably would have been about to enter the height of his marketing / endorsement potential.
Not great for his fans either, and if you do mainly support one particular player, or primarily look out for their results, then it can be pretty risky.
at least both are up - a win for Dan would be good, Cerundolo is a decent player and it was always going to be a tough battle - Jeff at TA rates Dan a 45% chance of winning overall, so a win would be a good showing
L128: (10) Cameron Norrie WR 11 defeated (WC) Manuel Guinard (FRA) WR 146 by 5, 2 & 0
*****
L64: (10) Cameron Norrie WR 11 vs (Q) Jason Kubler (AUS) WR 160 (CH = 91 in October 2018)
Kubler beat Kudla in round one, no slouch but not in Cam's league and this has to be one Cam will expect to win. Solid win today; he really has got a decent draw, at least first two rounds
