Giles Hussey put up a good fight - was a break up in the second - had a chance to serve it out - but couldn't and the tie-break was a bit one-way..... :(
But good effort
Charlie Broom also was 5-2 up, had a SP, got pegged back to a TB, I thought he'd blown it, was 2-5 down in the TB, and then came back, with Squire serving a really bad DF at 5-5 and Charlie then banging down an ace to take us into a third
Felix is also playing some very nice grass tennis against the pesky Otto
Is on the losing side, but only just....
FQR: (q12) Otto Virtanen (FIN) WR 306 defeated Felix Gill WR 435 by 5 & 3
FQR: (q5) Jason Jung (TPE) WR 249 defeated (ALT) Giles Hussey WR 674 by 6-3 7-6(3)
FQR: (q10) Henri Squire (GER) WR 307 defeated (q14) Charles Broom WR 444 by 6-3 7-6(5) 6-3
Copil bags another Brit:
FQR: (q4) Marius Copil (ROU) WR 268 defeated (q8) Aidan McHugh WR 325 by 4 & 4
Without wishing to give Evo delusions of grandeur, that match struck me as a classic Federer sort of match - with it all looking rather close, not much in it, and then the better player just putting his foot down, at the key moment, so actually it wasn't close at all
Well done, Dan
Do you know , CD, I actually agree with you. I liked the French guys game as above and it always felt tight but it also always felt like Dan had that extra gear. Sampras made a career on grass of doing what you said re Federer as well, just cruising along to 4-4 , 5-5 or so and then putting the foot down and taking the set. Both of them, Fed and Sampras had loads of 7-5 6-3 6-4 style wins through their Wimbledon career
Dan Cox fighting hard in this second set, could be in with a chance of taking it to 3 sets. Against a top 200 player, doing well so far.
Yes, been watching a fair bit of this match - Dan being very tenacious - arguing a lot of line calls - feisty - but it's good, it's him, terrier like.....
Really hard to get over the line - several match points came and went as Gaio played tight tennis, coming forward..... But Dan hung in well, a couple of excellent serves from the deuce side, and suddenly a complete rush of blood to the head by Gaio who abandoned all the tactics that were winning him points and went for a complete wild swing on a second serve - and missed

Managed to watch a little bit of Jay and Paul. They have quite similar games but, at the moment, Jay is a step ahead in terms of size and power. Paul looks relatively frail compared to Jay who is looking to me like he has bulked up (in a good way) since I last saw him. He seems to be on top of this with a second set break and a set up

Brilliant match, Dan
Fabulous, makes it Dan x 2 in the last 16.
Great result. Makes him LR 503!
Close, but no cigar as they say. One more win would do it. Come on Dan.
Pleased for Jay. He was a tad unlucky, maybe, in his Liam match, with the match getting suspended. And I didn't quite understand why the bookies had got Paul as the large favourite - a bit weird, as Jay had been playing well.
Anyway, it's always nice when you don't mind who wins
So well done to him - Jordan will be a challenge though....

And now the pesky Finn's seen off "The Milkman" (4) by 7-6(5) 6-3, though to be fair, he's had time to asjust to grass, whereas I assume John's done little more than practise.
