Lots of errors in those final games, guess he just ran out of steam. But still played some lovely tennis, and what a week! Great wins, really acquitted himself well to an environment / level he'd never experienced before.
Love him breaking through seemingly out of nowhere at 26, proper inspiration for many players slugging it out on the ITF tour week in week out. The prize money from this grass court season should also set him up very nicely for his future scheduling / training.
Shame I really thought Ryan was going through after that first set but it was Krajinovi who found a higher level ultimately. Still Ryan proved he's a serious player, he can dig in and make a fight of it when he has to, and maybe with more experience and emotional control he would have won today.
I see Queens quite rightly getting stick for not allowing WTA players access to practice courts.
My feelings on this venue and the stuffed shift Tories that run it are well known on here from a previous experience a few years ago. Sad to see its still very much the same. Proud to be British I think not.
Dennis Shapovalov who is a fine young progressive gent is putting the boot in, on yersel Dennis.
I had Castle/Lloyd on mute cant stand those tories droning on. Meanwhile the commentary Im also watching with Nick v Hub in Halle is way more informed and technical. Is it Jamie Baker on commentary there on prime?
And for the people who said that Ryan wasn't quite up to snuff, did they see some of the Berrettini match? The Dutchman played a pretty hideous match.
And Cilic? What was all that about? Difficult to argue that Ryan's slip had anything to do with not being used to the level when you see Cilic completely not at the races in the second set, in particular.
