Lloyd and Harri, Jonny and Ken got the doubles wild cards
Harri's blog states that the wild card negotiations went right down to the wire and in return for half a doubles wild card for Queen's for Harri, the Helsinki Challenger later this year has agreed to give a singles wild card to a Brit.
See the penultimate paragraph of https://www.harriheliovaara.fi/2022/06/10/queens-club-atp500-paasarjan-villikortti-varmistui/ and thanks to big Lloyd & Harri fan @rellimj on Twitter for alerting me to this!
(N.B. in Finnish, kaksinpeli = 2-game = singles, i.e. two players on court, as opposed to nelinpeli = 4-game = doubles, i.e. 4 players on court)
Interesting....... and I sort of feel we've done well out of that.....Lloyd is a Brit, ranked 52, and gets a dubs wildcard - which is what the LTA would have wanted in the first place (the fact that his normal partner gets one too is a sort of given; after all, he needs a partner, and bit daft to give him one he's never played with). AND then GB gets a singles wildcard to Helsinki which we'd never have got normally in a million years.

Jack Draper did get a WC to the Tali Open last year - perhaps there was a similar arrangement?
I do think that's rather OTT from the LTA, particularly if it went so down to the wire, given what Lloyd has achieved, just because he has done it with a foreign partner and/or the LTA thought they could get something back out of it.
But hey no matter messing the guys about so much, no doubt the LTA is very pleased with their negotiating skills
Paul had an early break cancelled out but romped through the first set tiebreak 7-0. Jay struggled on serve and eventually got broken to lose the first set 6-4, and trails 0-2 in set 2

I know and it feels like it was most likely unnecessary as you say. It was almost holding Lloyd to ransom, would They have made him play with someone else?!
I see Ali was originally entered with Ryan but is now in qualies with Jay. Wonder where all that is heading?
