10 ranking points & 8,530 euros in the bag.

FQR:   (qWC) Paul Jubb WR 231 vs (q8) Steve Johnson (USA) WR 87 (CH = 21 in July 2017)

If he can dump out the q3...

Ouch to those MD draws for the Brits cry

Great win for Jubby but his FQR opponent is Steve Johnson - who beat Kozlov 6-0 6-0!!!

Great win for Jubby, and very valuable. Is that a career high scalp he has taken ranking wise?

Ali lost the first set on a tiebreak 7-1 but has bounced back to take the second 6-2

If Andy was able to beat Kyrgios today , Berretini awaits in the final in Stuttgart- Berrettini could see an Andy, Evo, Andy set of consecutive matches.

Alastair unable to take advantage of a couple of mini-breaks, so he'll be disappointed.  Good effort, though.

Great effort - just Jubby left in.

Very good looking effort by Alastair. But unfortunately just not able to take advantage of his apparent break in Nakashima being replaced in the draw.

I know some have had thoughts of a Wimbledon MD WC for Alastair but I think that would have at least needed a late big statement or two. So probably a Q WC for him.

Yes, and only the second time he has beaten a player in the top 100. He picked the right time to play Duckworth, who is now on a 9-match losing streak since reaching the Paris Masters QFs last year.

Was that a typo or deliberate?  wink

It was a genuine typo! It might also be an ironic typo! Actually has Duckworth got a reputation, I dont know?

I've heard he has a tendency to quack under pressure (igmc)

I think you should.  wink

Seriously, I seem to recall that he's had a few injury issues, but I'm not aware of any unsavoury gossip about him, though I don't do gossip & don't often get to hear of any salacious rumours about sports "personalities" unless they're bad enough to warrant a mention on the Beeb site or in The Times.

Paul is keeping it close at the moment, not looking outclassed
