Week 23 - ATP 250 - Boss Open - Stuttgart, Germany (grass)

Likely be the first of a doubler between these two. I fancy Berretini for Wimbledon this year, he was my pick at the start of the year before injury and I still think hes the best grass court player around these days. If Andy beats him the we really have to consider Andy going deep at Wimbledon.

I am already thinking if Andy gets the right draw he should be a contender for the second week, anything else a bonus

Knowing Andys luck with draws here will end up drawing Felix, Novak or Berretini in the first or second round at Wimbledon.

What did Nick get the game penalty for? I know he got a point penalty for smashing his racket.

Someone else wrote he could reach a seeding spot with a title here, and a win or two next week- not sure how close he is? He is live 47 now and a final win would take him to 35, which would be in the seedings given the Russians etc, so he could be close

Thats was me that wrote that, taking the title here would give him a Wimbledon seeding as at least 5 of the players in the top 32 will be out with injury or being Russian. Dinner, Nadal, Monfils all doubtful as well.

Not been able to watch it, been asleep an hour or two, but Andy seems to be giving Berrettini a good old fight. The Italian up in the 3rd though

Final:  (2 Matteo Berrettini (ITA) WR 10 defeated Andy Murray WR 68 by 6-4 5-7 6-3  hmm

Still good to see Andy getting back in the groove on grass.

Does Andy get more points for reaching the Stuttgart final than Evo for winning Nottingham?

He does - Stuttgart was an ATP 250 event, and had top 10 players like Berrettini in the draw, he got 250points for taking the title and Andy as RU gets 150.

Dan was playing an ATP125 Challenger event and was top seed. It is the high end of the Challenger tour , as was Surbiton and as is Ilkley this week. It carried 125 points for the winner, Dan.

So , Andy trumped Dan this week 150 to 125 but both had good weeks and will be pleased with their form, albeit Andy seemed to have a abdominal strain at the end.
