Week 24 - ITF W100 - Ilkley, Great Britain Grass

Another win would put her above Fran Jones (who is live ranked 199 at moment)

Plays either Jodie or Snigur next - would a win put her in-or-around the Top 200?

Could be just inside the top 200 if she reaches the final, depending on other results elsewhere. Currently looking at around the 225 mark.

Jodie can make it with a win today.

Looking like she will make US Open qualies too, what a fantastic achievement! With the exception of Katie S (who did battle well against Vekic) have performed excellently on grass, and have all justified being awarded wimbledon maindraw wildcards

Yes, not for the absolute top few Brittish men and women but it's been a really excellent grass season already from several others in the top 10. Very pleasing depth.

Yeah, absolutely. This was my point about there's always one person (or three) who suddenly comes good at this time of year - thanks to the wildcards, the grass, the home element, whatever it is.

It seems to me that we've had more than normal this year - Ryan, Jodie, Sonay, Dan Cox, Ranah, Paul Jubb, etc: there's been some really year-changing runs, and we're still a fair way off being finished....

And yes Sonay is a shoo-in for US Open qualies ( at least ) She has no ranking points due off until late September.

Watched a bit of Snigur yesterday. Just the sort of opponent Jodie should perform well against.
Plenty of errors and a second serve with nothing on it.

Very strong start - Snigur making rash errors but Jodie pressing and being aggressive.

[WC] Burrage GBR 4-0* [4] Snigur UKR

Very nice set, although Snigur helped her out a bit with a flurry of bad errors. Nice ace to take it though.

Forehand screamer on the return for *3-2

Didn't realise the winner of this one played Sonay next - I think that's good, especially with both Brit's being WCs. Would be fab if Jodie could see this one out and guarantee a Brit in the final. A bit of work to do in this service game though.

Good recovery from *15-30, 4-2*.

1 Galfi vs 3 Volynets in the other semi final. Dalma has her place at Wimbledon secured, but Katie doesn't, so even more on the line for her.

Performances by the wildcards here has been unreal - great to see and ranking points-wise, very tactically astute with no reward ahead from Wimbledon.

Will watch Sonay v Jodie with interest.
