Week 24 - LTA Wimbledon Wild Card Play-Offs - Aorangi Park, London, Great Britain (grass)

I thought it would be worth having a separate thread as this cranks into view

https://www.lta.org.uk/49526b/siteassets/compete/pro-players/lta-wimbledon-wild-card-play-offs-fact-sheet-2022.pdf

Entries are determined Wednesday 15th, with play due to be round one Thursday 16th and Round 2 and 3 Friday 17th

The latest ATP rankings for 13/06 will determine the 11 direct entries to the play-offs from these not by then into the Wimbledon MD or qualifying by DE or WC and available/wishing to play.

So, if the 11 top ranked players without wild cards sign in and play, we can expect

Charlie Broom
Anton Matusevich
Jack PJ
Stuart Parker
(Dan Cox - will be in Ilkley)
Jan Choinski
(Henry Patten - will be in Ilkley)
Mark Whitehouse
Oscar Weightman
Harry Wendelken
Giles Hussey
Arthur Fery (may also get the NCAA ticket)
Ryan Storrie

Further down Luke Johnson is in Ilkley still and Blu Baker is next and in the USA.

Do we think those 11 will take up their places or is it likely to be more diluted?

Arthur has a QWC.

Unfortunately I can't see Ryan appearing. He's again not been seen for a while. More injury issues?

Not sure about Jan. He's been appearing in ITF clay draws and withdrawing. Jack PJ has been posted missing recently too

forgot about Arthur - not sure who will get the NCAA nod regardless, Jo Monday or Hamish Stewart where high up those rankings but not sure if they are back in the UK or not?

Jo Monday was definitely in the US a few days ago

Agree with Indy - no real chance of Ryan Storrie, nor Jan, nor Jack PJ (unless he was on the cusp of recovering and they couldn't justify a full quali WC because he hadn't played and so now was the time to get back on court)

Josh Paris has a playoff wildcard, no? And Toby Samuel

So that takes Josh out of the direct entrant list if you're counting backwards (and get that far)

Will Jansen will definitely have one (as top junior, I'd expect, or even the direct discretionary wildcard)

So I make the direct 11 to likely be:

Charlie Broom
Anton Matusevich
Stuart Parker
Mark Whitehouse
Oscar Weightman
Harry Wendelken
Giles Hussey
Luke Johnson
Dan Little
Julian Cash
Millen or Toby

It's a shame about Jack. He seemed to be doing well in a few tournaments and then nothing over the grass court season.  Hope it's not an injury but a deliberate strategy for some reason.

From another thread, Tennpar posted that the Brits who could get the NCAA top 100 WC to the play offs are:

Johannus Monday (16), Millen Hurrion (45), Toby Samuel (59), Max Basing (62), Emile Hudd (72)

I think it has to be the top ranked one that signs in , not sure who is around the UK?

Have only received the womens draw from tonight sorry to you guys, I received it from one of the players coaches who I am very good friends with. I can certainly see the mens draw being a lot stronger than the womens draw, I will try my best to get it for you guys ASAP :)

Thanks madadman. Anton versus Oscar is the match of the round there.

Madaman, great job - we have some good google sleuths on this site !

The seeds (1) and (3) matches are all in one line so that must be one half of the draw.

And the (2) and (4) in the other

Nice to see Finn Bass back on a British tennis court

No room for Louis Bowden, which is a slight surprise

But Lui gets a youngster's sport

Generally, a lot stronger than the women's ....
