L16:  Brandon Murphy WR 1279 defeated (8) Daniil Glinka (EST) WR 871 by 1 & 5  biggrin

*****

QF:  (1) Edan Leshem (ISR) WR 560 (CH = 249 in December 2017) vs Brandon Murphy WR 1279

That's probably the end of the road for Brandon.

Nice one, Brandon

As said, he's definitely under-ranked and should be about ATP 750 at the moment, in my mind, with good upside potential but needs more experience and matches at this level.

Agree with SC - the next one is a big ask - but you never know.....

Brandon played a really bad match :(

He lost 2-6 5-7

In the first set, he served really poorly (again). A low first serve percentage, lots missing my miles, and the Edan was cruising.

The start of the second set was close - up to 2-2.

And then the Israeli had a complete collapse - out of nowhere - served double faults, couldnt' get the ball in the court - just a collapse

Brandon was serving well and he absolutely had him

But on set points, on second serves, he didn't even make his opponent play the ball, when you could see that the guy was having a panic attack at even having to hit a ball

He missed all his first serves again, and basically let him back in.

It was a real lack of lucidity.

And then got cross himself - and that was the end of that :(

CD do you know much about Brandon's history? He doesn't seem to have played much in ITF juniors?

I PM-ed you, Nix.

I don't really know but I don't think Brandon was in much of a position to play juniors as a youngster.

I am thrilled for him that it seems to be coming good to some degree - he's still very young - I hope he gets to give it a good try.

Thanks CD. It's great to see him and our other young players getting some success!
