And another one bites the dust:

QR1: Dimitar Kuzmanov (BUL) WR 175 (= CH) defeated (qWC) Charles Broom WR 417 (= CH) by 3 & 5

Charlie served for that second set at 5-3.  hmm

As mentioned, Kuzmanov likes the grass and not really a surprise

Doesn't matter whether he likes the grass or not....... being 4-0 up and losing the set without even making a tiebreak is pretty feeble

Agreed, but I think Charlie has shown with losing in the play offs that grass isnt his thing, and probably was lucky to be here anyway, being honest!

He only lost in a third-set TB - that's 50-50 - I don't think you can draw conclusions from having 'lost' in the play-offs based on that

He should have seen that set out - I've watched him on several occasions, it's not the first time

But King Arthur bucks the trend:

QR1:  (qWC) Arthur Féry WR 692 defeated Thomas Fabbiano (ITA) WR 174 by 4 & 2  biggrin

SO pleased for the young man ! (not to mention 'kerching' )

He rather bottled the match against Lestienne at Ilkley

But looked SO comfortable and in control in this match

It was always obvious that the ranking was irrelevant (as it is with any player who's not really doing the circuit but playing other competitive tennis instead)

Féry's mum is tall and slender (ex pro tennis player in France). And his dad is chunkier but a fair height, from recollection. It's true Arthur is probably 5ft9 with his shoes on, at best......

But he has excellent timing, great feel for the court, very sound technique

SO glad my zero prediction has gone for a burton

QR2:  (qWC) Arthur Féry WR 692 vs Nicolás Moreno (USA) WR 257 (CH = 240 in April)

The Yank despatched the q20, Manuel Guinard (WR 154), by 3 & 4.
