Perhaps - but then none of us would ever write anything that was faintly critical because nothing is really a biggie

SC does a brilliant job and it's wonderful to have her back - there's a difference of opinion about a choice of a few phrases - that's all

A nice round-up of the matches yesterday with quotes from most of the guys can be found on the eurosport page

Enjoyed being back at Qualifying yesterday. In terms of Brits I watched a bit of Charles Broom, Stuart Parker, Billy Harris, Aidan Mchugh & Felix Gill. Stuart and Felix out of those that lost were a bit unlucky and on another day might have got the win.
You can already tell that the AELTC now have ownership of the site. a few more permanent looking signs etc.. The 4 courts which are in a square just off the slope now have two of them with mini temporary seated stands. Just past this where I think there use to be a cricket square it looks like they are putting in a new Court ready for next year. It looks like it was going to have proper drainage etc... with t he space left around it I'd imagine they will look to put a few bigger temp stands up. So think that will be the new main 'show' court.

the courts looked fabulous yesterday and all the players interviewed on TV spoke very highly of the courts and the general feel - it felt like a big deal

That's really interesting.

The changes all sound for the good

I might have missed this but does this mean that qualifying is going to be here indefinitely now? Have the plans to move everything to the Wimbledon site been shelved? Or is this a temporary upgrade and then they'll use it for other tennis (or take away some of the tennis?)

Sounds like you had a grand day, Madadman smile

As I understand it the Bank of England were trying to sell the site in early 2020 but then the pandemic hit which put that on hold. So the AELTC have taken on a 15 year lease for the site. I don't envisage them doing anything too major with the site as I think they see it as a short to medium term solution to give them time to try and convert the golf course for qualifying.
Found a statement from last year.

Is this the venue for the post Wimbledon ITF M25 on grass which is in "Roehampton" as opposed to the NTC? The womens is on hardcourts at NTC at the same time, but the mens just says a non specific Roehampton? Would be good if it is being used again

The address on the Fact sheet says NTC. But there are gates linking the two sites and the players at qualifying use NTC facilities so I guess we will have to wait and see. My hunch is it the same courts as qualifying.

I didnt scroll that far down and see the NTC - do they actually have grass courts though? These would certainly make sense and looked to be in lovely condition

It was much appreciated though. Thanks CD, not the first time you have understood me and got my back. Salient points re supposedly just a turn of phrase when such detail had been gone into in SC's initial reply re some concerns. Kind of covered what I was still thinking but was trying not to extend. For I appreciate that many folk, like wolf, probably have no wish for any further such discourse.

So moving on, c'mon the Brits !
