L64: Steve Johnson (USA) WR 93 defeated (WC) Ryan Peniston WR 135 by 3, 2 & 4
Ryan looked very flat (exhausted?). There were occasional flashes of brilliance, but Johnson didn't really let him get into his stride. At least he showed a bit of fight in the third set & got on the scoreboard in each one...
Only watched the 3rd set, Ryan missed on quite a few important points - for some reason he was only slicing his backhand. Not sure why? Shame, was a great opportunity to get into R3. Great summer nonetheless, and what a rise up for him.
Not to be for Ryan today but he's had a good few weeks. Really, really hope he can continue to build on this success going forward.
What a lovely nice chap he is.
Strange match! Munar another noisy bugger! Played some good stuff in the second & third sets, though, while Cam wasn't exactly at his best. A bit more consistency & Munar might have had Cam!

Andy, sadly, ultimately unable to subdue the bloody 37-year-old Yank missile-launcher:
L64: (20) John Isner (USA) WR 24 defeated Andy Murray WR 52 by 6-4 7-6(4) 6-7(3) 6-4
Overall, Isner deserved to win. Andy tried his hardest but Isners serve was just too good and he backed it up with some lovely volleying as well
Hes never been one of my favourites but Isners post-match interview was awesome I thought and he really went up in my estimation.
So Andy is out and you have to question whether he will be back again - I do hope so!
