 Hilarious, Nick despises anyone he considers of less value to himself, ie Umpires, linesmen/women, ball kids but yep lets stick it to the middle class snoots. If middle class means having respect for all people then I'm happy to be a middle class snoot

 Yes.....I have sympathy for this.... I also have a particular grudge with Djoko because he is so much more 'powerful' than Kyrgios - both in terms of reputation and his standing on ATP councils etc .... I feel he is beholden to behave better

Overall, and given certain serious misgivings against both, and although it might sound a little 'sappy', I honestly want the one who plays the best tennis to win

 Yes I didn't see it as ever that much of a chance for Cam once Djoko upped his level after that first set. Djoko never found top gear but he found a gear beyond Cam on that surface 

Huge credit to Cam on how he has worked and reached the top 10. I'd say he is overall a lot more than conveyed by 'a good honest trier,' but he himself has said grass is certainly not his best surface and in truth his level had not been great during his run which on top of an obvious very decent base level owed a lot to fitness and determination plus a draw that opened up.

So onwards Cam, keep working, get even better, and it is promising for the hard court season. But I didn't look at this as one that got away.

 Thats not what I meant at all. My point is Wimbledon and a lot of the crowd are snooty middle class Tories who look down their noses at people. Its a very elitist tournament with dated views and confirmations. Yes Nick is not perfect, but hes a pantomime villain in the way that McEnroe was. I dont condone all of his actions in the slightest, Im sure some people here understand what I mean. Respect and values are more aligned to working classes than middle classes in society anyway by definition.

I think Ive maybe identified some Tories in this thread maybe hurting their hero had to resign this week Im thinking

 That's just silly. I'm very much not a Tory. I absolutely detest Boris Johnson. I expect you'd call me middle class though. 

I"ve known people from all 'classes' that are incredibly rude or incredibly polite. Values are not aligned to class. Values are about your own personal view of the world and your relationships with others. I've known left wing people who went to Eton and right wing people who were working class. 

In many ways Nick Kyrgios is good for tennis and we need more people like him who provide a broader appeal than the Wimbledon Committee might endorse. However, I don't condone his behaviour towards ball boys and girls and umpires. I don't think anyone should use their power to abuse those in lesser roles. I also find Djokovic unappealing with his sense of entitlement and I think he has unfortunate influence on players' committees. Overall I hope Kyrgios wins because it would be good for tennis's profile and because I personally find Djokovic more annoying overall. But class has nothing to do with it.
