Johannus Monday

I thought I might start this as he seems to be doing well in his college career and is starting to play a few tournaments. There are also a couple of nice articles, and an interview with him.

Following on from Nix, congrats to Johannus (who goes by JoMo) on taking the 15k title at South Bend, USA

JoMo never was ranked in juniors, only played one J5 event in his whole junior career, and yet - at age 20 - is now winning at 15k level.

Really pleased for him

Congratulations JoMo. Love the name he's shortened to. Hope he can go far.

Just as an update, since the above 15k title, JoMo has made a 15k semi - and now has made the final of a 25k in Decatur, Illinois

He's currently ATP 763 in singles, having been about 1500 two months earlier, and in the top-1000 in dubs.

A really stellar run.....

Maybe the honour of his own thread has spurred him on! biggrin

Let's hope it continues. He seems like a nice, hardworking young man.

Following the continutaion of JoMo's amazing run these past couple of months, he is now:

Singles: ATP 531

Doubles: ATP 737

Worth remembering that he is only 20, born Jan 2002

So far this year:

In singles, he won the 25k title at Decatur, USA (as well as the 15k at North Bend)

In doubles, he won the 25k title at Sheffield, with Giles Hussey, as well as the 25k title at Falun (also with Giles) and the 25k title at Champain, USA, with Dostanic

An interview with Jo on Tennessee's podcast, recorded before he was #1.
YouTube
Its about 35 minutes long, discussing his college career, his mum coming over for seniors day and not watching him, post college plans, his netflix watches and what boys at boarding school watch, and about 5 minutes of the host and him doing a crossword - apparently his secret to success is getting the New York Times puzzles out each day.

Post season his plans are to stay in Knoxville training for a couple of months to experience the heat - not sure what this means for the grass season. He's not sure yet where he will be based. He has offers around Europe, but would like to stay in Tennessee for as long as possible.
