The defending champions make it through to the final, which will be played tomorrow evening, after the two women's singles semi-finals!
Wow, when did that scheduling change. Jamie's run finished after the men's final.
They want to highlight the mixed final by having it earlier in the week as the evening match. Friday would be too tight with the mens semis. So Thursday it is. I think it is a good idea, avoids it being an afterthought .
It would be far better to have it on as the 1st match on either the Saturday or Sunday
Not the easiest to schedule either way, but so many people will have things scheduled on a Thursday evening and not realise (like I haven't) until too late that the mixed final is on.

Yeah its not been well publicised really. I think one of the other slams, is it the US, has the mixed final on the Thursday as well, cant recall exactly.
I read somewhere that on the Sunday it gets lost as a little after thought behind the mens final. The same would be the case on the Saturday behind the womens and the Friday mens singles semis as well. Whereas the womens semis are often shorter , sometimes just 4 sets of play and so it bolsters the Thursday menu and appeal.
In past years they have often been playing doubles semis on Court One right at the end of the second week, so the finals couldn't actually happen until the weekend. This year they seem to have been able to get through the schedule quicker (not just in the mixed with the smaller draw) so moving the mixed final forward to improve the scheduling and appeal makes sense to me.
I understand the logic, and I guess that the issue is that it's not the main point of interest in the tournament, so they're trying to up it's profile, but then more publicity would make sense.
With the final set tie breaks now, the matches are shorter, so not sure why they needed to cut the draw. Dubs isn't that demanding that they couldn't play a couple of matches in a day if needed.
Do they play a full final set with 6 all tie break in mixed or straight into a champions tie break after 1 set all? So much depends on the weather of course and weve been lucky to have a largely dry Wimbledon, so many of the players havent been delayed in other doubles events etc
To show where it sits in the scheduling priorities, Matt Ebden is playing his mens five set doubles semi at 1 pm and the mixed final he is in comes later. So a mixed final is clearly bottom of the pile!

I think something they were trying to fix was the ladies' doubles final on the Saturday was consistently starting after 9pm due the men's doubles final going on for ages so they have switched the ladies' to Sunday.

And that also makes sense. Overall Ive liked the new second week structure , enhanced by some amazing matches of course, which helps make it look inspired !
Might be a bit tight if it starts raining a lot though? Especially as your not allowed to schedule a mixed before a men's or ladies' for the same player.

I'm pretty sure men's doubles final was after women's final and women's doubles was after men's. I remember being Ct1 on the Saturday and watching the Bryan Bros/Huss Moodie final. I'd prefer mixed be played before men's final. I think that would raise it's profile more in the same way that up and coming bands play the warm up to the main show st concerts. I don't think it would work before the ladies final as there is a higher chance that a singles finalist would also be in mixed final. So my schedule would be Sat ladies final men's doubles final. Sunday mxd final men's final ladies doubles final with a slightly earlier start time
