I don't see why it couldn't happen at Masters events where both genders play at the same time. Miami is a tournament that has both tours play in the same week (I think). Eastbourne is another one where this coild be done
Wouldn't work with the Canadian Open, as the men's & the women's events alternate between Toronto & Montréal, with the men playing in one & the women in the other. This year, the men are in Montréal & the women in Toronto. Next year, it will be the other way round.
Indeed and I dont think normal tour or Masters events would do it - the schedules are tighter and the mindset is different. The slams have more space, geography wise and schedule wise, to do mixed and it is also part of the structure.
But joining them together and holding a year end event, perhaps even a winner takes all to be declared World Mixed Champions in a similar format to the Tour Finals (round robin, 8 pairs) might work - I would have thought a few venues like London/UK, into Asia, would host that at the time of year (end Nov/early Dec) that it would need to take place

The Masters are trying to extend their tournament timeframes so it could work. They're up to 10 days now and aiming for 14. They could have a mixed tournament while qualifying is going on as a warm up. It might encourage the top players to play
They really should give ranking points for the mixed at all four slams.
Those points should then be added to the players doubles ranking and used towards either same sex or mixed doubles.
They really should give ranking points for the mixed at all four slams. Those points should then be added to the players doubles ranking and used towards either same sex or mixed doubles.
There's a massive issue with this.
With only a 32 draw only the top 30 or so players get in.
If you take the men's side only the top 30 or so doubles players get into the 9 Masters events, and to be honest you need to be ranked about that to get into the 500 events as well.
This creates a big problem as it is then almost impossible to for the lower ranked players to move up as the players above them have consistent access to higher ranked tournaments which they just cannot get into themselves.
So then giving points to the same players in mixed doubles Grand Slams who are already gaining a massive advantage will just further exacesparate the problem.
And no Joe either, both of which seems surprising.
Dom Inglot's just said in the course of the commentary on the Williams/Murray vs Rosolska/Venus match (they're waiting for the roof over N° 1 Court to be closed) that Joe felt that his back wasn't quite up to both the men's doubles & the mixed.
A bit more light shed on Joe's absence from the mixed courtesy of Matt Majendie in last Friday's Standard:
Wimbledon 2022: Doubles hero Neal Skupski relishes emulating Fred Perry with title defence
Neal Skupski became only the second Briton since Fred Perry in 1936 to successfully defend a Wimbledon title after winning the mixed doubles with Desirae Krawczyk. The No 2 seeds came away 6-4, 6-3 winners over Matthew Ebden and Sam Stosur on Thursday night, with Skupski emulating John Lloyd, who had won the mixed in 1983 and 1984. Of that historic feat, Skupski said: "That's pretty special. I didn't know that. Wimbledon, for me, is the best tournament in the world. To be able to win it once with Des, then back it up, win it again, it's quite crazy. It's a lifelong dream for me. It doesn't feel real."
The Briton's cause was helped by Ebden being embroiled in a lengthy five-setter earlier with Max Purcell against Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram. Skupski had been set to play with Gabby Dabrowski, with Krawczyk having agreed to play with Salisbury, only for Salisbury to withdraw from the mixed when it was announced the men's doubles would be best of five sets.
American Krawczyk said the late decision had "paid off", while Skupski said it was a U-turn he couldn't reject. "To try to defend the title with someone you won it with the year before is something I wanted to do personally," he said. "It was very special to do that at Wimbledon. It is very difficult [for Dabrowski]. Like the doubles tour, the men's tour, ladies' tour, it happens. People get dropped week in, week out. People do get used to it. It's not nice."
She switches because Joe had agreed to partner Harriet months before and didn't want to backtrack on that commitment even though he and Desirae went on to become French Mxd champs This scenario wasn't too bad because Neals original partner had enough notice to repair, a courtesy not extended to Harriet by Jay.
