I have to say , Toby Samuel is fairly tearing up these ITF grass events, singles title two weeks back, qf today, sf doubles also

Not surprised, thought he looked good on the grass in his qualifying match at Surbiton against I think it was Max Purcell.

When the 2002-boys were all 16-17 year-olds, it seemed to me that Toby Samuel and Ben Heynold got all the attention from the LTA.

I never really rated either of them, especially given all the help they seemed to be getting.

I was far more pro Arthur and Felix, who weren't really on the scene at the start

But it's true that Toby has grown, and his game has grown, and college is a great learning period, and he's been having an excellent patch this summer

That said, he's getting rather beaten up by Dan Cox at the moment - but Dan often seems to go a little AWOL at times so it's hardly done and dusted

Dan beat Toby by 6-2 7-6(1). Went from 5-3* to *5-6(6) in the second set but then finished it off strongly.

Stuart had taken the first set vs Arthur by 7-6(3). Arthur led by 5-2* and had 5 SPs in all when leading by 5-4*.

Charles leads Harry by 6-2 1-1*

Dan has certainly got the edge on Charlie and looks comfortable at a break and a set up

Well done Dan, he certainly has played solidly this grass court season . I fancied Charlie for the title this week, let's see if Dan can come through now (and a final with Arthur would be good!)
