Two no 5 seeds in the third quarter?

OK, I made a mistake -  a simple copy & paste error from last week's draw, when the Japanese happened to be the fifth seed, & which would have been corrected when I realised what I'd done.  I challenge you to put up a 64-man draw without making a single error.

Johnny is new around here. Only signed up today. I think he was just trying to be helpful.

Dont take any notice of Stircrazy!  She likes pointing out other peoples errors but not when its reversed.

Welcome to the board

Jonny, hang around, please smile

It's always the problem with forums and the written word, as opposed to being face to face, where you can show in your tone, and your mannerisms etc what you mean.

It's always a bit stark in black and white and the nuance is lost

Honestly, you were trying to be helpful, absolutely, we understand that - but SC had just spent a long time doing the list and it's a bit of a pain and she's not the youngest or in the best of health....

I think we can all be friends smile

Thank you for that explanation, CD.  Contrary to what seagull seems to believe, I really don't mind having my mistakes pointed out to me when they're justified & am always willing to own up to them.  It was to the apparent sharpness of the tone of Johnny Aitch's post that I took exception & reacted, perhaps a little intemperately, but it was the second time today!

Sharpness of tone? I just wrote a sentence. Can you advise me what part of the sentence was sharp of tone and how I can reduce the sharpness of tone of any future sentences, I may or may not write?

I think this might be a question of age and generation, Jonny

Or just the fashion.....

It's the trend now for people to write very 'short', with minimum words, sort of textspeak

Which misses out all the 'extra' little words that tones things down a little

So, I guess, you could say: Just a passing comment but should there be two no.5 seeds? or 'Hardly critical but I think two no.5 seeds have slipped in by mistake'

Personally, my general belief is to let most errors pass - to be completely honest, SC can be rather over-zealous in pointing them out too - I reckon a few errors barely make any difference - some, obviously, are more important than others - but a lot can be glossed over - and it's true that some people put a lot of time and effort into posting information, it's what keeps it going, and a few slips are bound to happen.

Seriously, it's good to have you on board

So Dan Cox gets the easier path and Charlie, Stuart , Mark all get the tough route ! Toby Samuel middling.

It looks like we need Stuart Hodkin to be the hero of the hour to stop Jaggy gloating for the next year!! JK

Stick around Johnny please! Take a little time to get more of a general feel for the forum and the discussions and banter from the individuals within it.

Many quite different personalities brought together by their interest in tennis and in particular the progress of British tennis players.

The board appreciates what you do and are happier you are in a healthier form to resume your board activities including the draws but there was no need for sharpness.

SC you were missed during your recovery but sometimes your attitude can be slightly off-putting to the point where it is a major factor in my own lack of posts (the other being rudeness in the WTA forum here a while back).

You need to lighten up, you gave a pretty aggressive response se to my throw away comment on the POM poll. This is social media, you need to appreciate that all people can see is what you write, not the tone of your voice and other ques that soften the message. Plus when you've been on here a bit you'll and possibly put up some of the draws yourself, youll appreciate what an absolute ball ache it is to do

It's a new day. Let's all be friends again.

SC. We love you and really appreciate all that you do in uploading the matches and scores. Having done it myself on just the odd occasion in the past, I am fully aware (as are others) how time consuming it can be and the amount of effort required. Please keep pointing out my incorrect use of accents too. As someone who has a Spanish keyboard with those extra characters, I have no excuse for not using them LOL.

JohnnyH. You are welcome and we are delighted to have you here. Everyone here has their own idiosyncrasies, myself included, and you will get used to them. As I mentioned on the other thread, we have a wide variety of opinions on this board and new perspectives can be a breath of fresh air. I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

I could see no sharpness of tone, Johnny.  It looked like a light-hearted comment to me.  (I am in my 60s).
