Well done Jack, watched a him get the break back in 2nd set then went back to sleep. Had mistakenly thought he had list the first set 5 -7 so was over the moon to see he had won, and in straights. Just brilliant.
Jack is up to live 62 and could go to around 55 with another win. Evo is live 34 and back in us open seeding contention , another win would take him to around 30 and a definite seeding.
Brilliant though Jacks win is, Evos feels significant as it seems to show he is really getting his form back.
I felt the same, I think Dan's win eclipses Jacks by a hairs breadth. I was more surprised by it given how he has been playing whereas I did think Jack had a chance against Tsitsipas
As a Brit tennis fan, I give it to Jack. As tournament director, I give it to Andy.
A year ago maybe, but it is increasingly obvious that this era is coming to an end and tournaments will now be looking at which players can create a rivalry in the future, Jack looks like he could well be in the mix with Alcaraz and Sinner. I think they will wait to see whether he progresses further before committing. Also if Andy asks for a WC do they have to give it to him

Putting aside retirement thoughts, Andy could go into US Open severely undercooked. If Djoko and Nadal dont play Cinci, he could probably get in there without a wild card (one remains to be offered), but my concern would be an early exit again with the wrong draw. Rather than a main draw wild card (not guaranteed) maybe he could take a QWC and get a couple of matches in qualies, it might help him more; an alternative plan might be to play Vancouver Challenger but Andy seems to prefer the bigger events. If he had another early exit next week, the next option might be to play Winston Salem the following week where there are wild cards still to be allocated; maybe he should do that if he plays Cinci and goes out early again?
Stu Fraser seems to be taking it for granted that Andy will be in the Cinci draw next week.
Interesting - they have one wild card to play with and I am sure other contenders from the US, but Andy and Jack should be in with a shout. Presumably they are waiting to see how it goes with drop outs (eg Djoko) as Kyrgios will get in and free up a wild card. Once that has worked through they may then announce the residual ones.
Given JD dropped out of Vancouver, I think, and is playing Winston Salem, he may well decide to take a week to work on his game; but if he got into Cinci, he might be best advised to play Cinci and its big money and points, then rest and practice during the Winston Salem week instead?
