Marvellous - Evo again with a fighting performance and seems to have Fritzs number - and tells us a bit more about where Andy is in the process.

Jack seemed to be doing well, not sure how much helped by the Monfils injury.

Evo has Tommy Paul next and Jack has PCB. Evo is now live 30, a win in the qf will take him mid 20s! Jack is 55 and a win could place him mid 40s.

Marvellous !

Bottom half is PCB v Jack and Evo v Tommy Paul- one of these 4 will reach their first Masters.

Dan looks to be back on form. That has to be his best result in months. Assuming both Dan and Jack make it to the semis and Jack beats Dan, we could have 3 seeded Men at the USO. Either way no one is going to want to draw Jack in the 1st round.

Always difficult to know how much a player is 'protecting' an injury but from the clip I have seen, this was a very sudden event - looked like calf pull or even achilles problem.  But it would seem Monfils was fine up to that point so huge credit to Jack for taking the first set.

Get well soon, Gael.

Reading some of the comments before I got to these results, I thought we must have lost all three of these! Two out of three wins through and Dan beating a top ten seeded player is absolutely fantastic, surely?

Really looks like Dan might have been more affected by Covid than we realised and has got his mojo back now. And I should imagine some of the lower seeds are praying they don't meet Jack in the first round at the US open.

Similarly to Evo last week, Jack was the perfect gentleman with an injured opponent. Despite the fact that he probably barely knows Gael he was over there like a shot to see if he was ok and help lift him off the ground. We do train 'em well in this country wink

He really does seem like a very well brought up young man, always pleasant in interviews and generally respectful to his opponents.

How super in a Masters to have to have 2 in the singles QF and 3 in the doubles QF. And not in general the pre tournament cast that one might have envisaged.

Grateful to SC for getting in early last night to indicate the wrath that might come their way if they didn't produce a few wins.

And thanks as always to her for summarising it all.
