Thats a shame , but tough draw. by the way, SC, its Henry Patten not Patton ( i realise you know this but youd put the typo in the earlier post and probably copied it through here!).

Would that be set points if it was 2 sets? Sorry SC

Edit - Billy beat Sandgren 6-4 7-6 (11-9) to qualify!

That's magnificent. For Billy to qualify for a Challenger and for anyone to bear Sandgren. Great news.

Ditto, Nix !

Great job, Billy - what a result - and no tears lost for Sandgren

(PS You posted somewhere else, Nix, I remember, about your son and long covid - I'd meant to reply and then couldn't find the post - just a real quickie to wish him, and you, all the best)

Good Win Billy, Was looking at Sandgren form though. Was still inside the top 100 in January. The 1st Q round here was only his 6th win of the year.

Oh thanks CD, that's very kind. It's a difficult thing as he's missed out on so much: his school prom, his interrailing trip, and just a fun summer post A levels. He's starting to get better, I'm giving him daily protein/vitamin drinks and he's mixing up activities with plenty of rest. But it's hard when you see an 18 year old not being bothered to eat. A few of his friends have also had it though and they have slowly got better so fingers crossed!

Good win there for Billy. Sandgren has been top 50.

Another very good win for Billy. And now a MD win away from going top 300.

Some players seem destined for at least such a level from early days but there is something special about the more unheralded such as Billy so pushing on at this stage with their results and ranking.

Great for Billy and for those who have long followed his career more than I have.

Just for some reassurance Nix - many years ago a friend of mine as a teenager was in hospital in a coma with post viral fatigue, which is what long Covid is. She is now a very successful campaigner and has a teenage daughter and lives a very healthy life. She missed several months of her life but has not suffered in the long term. Hope your son is back to 'normal' soon

Christine that sounds awful! I feel grateful that my son is nowhere near as bad as your friend was. I'm sure he'll be fine and thanks for your encouraging words.

Just as long as he doesn't make it into the Top 250 - well, not yet anyway.
