I wonder if the organisers of the US Open are a bit miffed as I'm sure they would have had liked this tie for the first round there. It would be seen by some as more than potentially good luck if the draw each other again now.
Serena will be really up for this one. It is a good chance for Emma to beat her but I wonder if she will be overcome with nerves. Even now Serena does put the fear into opponents. I'd feel more confident if Emma had developed a decent drop shot.

Oh I totally agree it's an amazing opportunity to play Serena and something really special. The 'oh dear' was more in response to me not thinking what Emma needs right now is a massive high profile match with a lot of focus on here, which when she gets beat (which I suspect she will if she throws these silly loopy balls into Serena's strike zone) just adds to the pre-NY pressure. I mean there's no real 'win' for Emma draw wise, as a lower ranked player or qualifier in this draw is going to put expectation on her to win. Hopefully she can make Serena move and be fired up for the big occasion to actually hit the ball properly.
I'm looking forward to it, I just don't expect it to be pretty.
Oh come on, that's a great match for Emma. One of the last chances she had to draw the legend, and Serena hardly at her peak powers.
A) you just need to make Serena move (becuase she can't do that so much anymore and
B) it would have been so much worse if it was at the USO and Serena's true last match.
Definitely ! One I might even watch !
If this is the last women s match you ever watch Jon.... it would be a good one to go out on !. Btw don t read to much into that sentence , I just meant your not overly keen on watching ladies tennis, ha

If I lose 2,000 points so be it, Ill start again from the bottom. I know I can do something that no one else has done. I qualified and won the US Open, so I can start from the beginning, I can start from zero and Im not afraid of that.
(And of course she'll still be top 100, just, so not quite the bottom!)
