Perhaps she plays better when she is the underdog. When her US points drop off, she may have a more obvious target to get back to.

I know serenas movement is pretty bad these days but Emma hitting 14 winners and 1 UE is pretty damn good. Hitting second serves consistently over 90mph. Ahhh its the hope that kills you

Enjoyed watching that. Serena for sure past her best and would have hoped for a closer score. But well done Emma. A confident and solid performance. Let's hope that adds an extra spark back to Emma's game and she can bring the same type of display against Azarenka.

The big difference was on 2nd serves. Emma won 75% on 2nd serves, Serena only 12.5%.
