Henry should maybe prioritise singles for a few more years. Easy enough to pick up doubles in a few years if he cant get into the top 250.

It appears that Liam would just sneak into the top 100 if he was to win the title here.

Very tough ask but it would be great and indeed great timing since he has the little matter of 134 points due off from 4 counters in September.

Depends on whether or not Coric goes deep in Cincy. He could win the title and finish 101 depending on how deep other Vancouver players go. I also dont think hes beating Ymer. That said its probably going to be his best chance of getting top 100 this year.

if you look at Liams history, he has played 21 finals at Challenger or Futures level - of those 21, 11 (over half) have come post US Open; 5 of his 8 career titles also - so he is a player who seems to perform in that last period of the year, perhaps as others are tiring ...he has Biel points to defend in September as one of those, where he reached the final, but I wouldnt write him off for the latter part of the year in the US outdoors or Europe indoors

Liam would move to 535 points if he wins the title, which live-tennis has as level with Carabelli for live 98 or 99 ( I've not investigated the potential ranking points tiebreaker there ). And Carabelli will move to higher points if he wins another round in Santo Domingo.

So yes the title and then at worst WR 101 if Carabelli stays ahead and both Coric wins another round in Cincinnati and Husler another round in Vancouver. I had initially discounted Husler because he could meet Liam in the QF but he still has his L16 match to play. Any other Vancouver players wirhin range would need to win the title which they can't if we've booked that for Liam

Agree very unlikely but I was just saying and it keeps me amused.

If Liams match carries on like the first game of it then it could a long one. Ymer served first and held in a 20 point 15 minute game.

Liam levels at a set all after being a break down.

1 set all, after Liam lost the first set even though he won 15 points on return compared to Ymer 6.

Then serves up a terrible first game of the 3rd set to go an early break down.

Why does it always feel Liam is so close to the top 100 and then the door always gets firmly shut again.
I had a horrible feeling he would not win this match.

To be fair, Ymer is decent, talented . Beat Andy recently as well and ranked well above Liam. The question for me is whether Liam is a top 100 player or good enough to make a fleeting appearance in the top 100. I suspect the latter as opposed to someone who will stay there.

I hope Im wrong but I also think autumn has proven to be his time of year and so expect we will see some decent results in the next few months of play.

Presumably 3R points for 2022 wimbledon would have helped a bit if they had been awarded?

By my maths he would be on 500 ranking points if Wimbledon had ranking points. Obviously no one else has any qualifying or main draw points either, but 500 would get you ranking 109. 535 is currently needed for top 100, Liam has 417 points. So he probably be at least 50 ranking points from the top 100 if Wimbledon had points.
