Week 34 - WTA 250 - Granby, Canada (outdoor hard)

Super defence on match point. Very close and competitive match, but she's hobbling to the net. Not sure if it's ankle, knee or hip that she's tweaked.

Harriet's next opponent is decided tomorrow so Harriet should have a day to recover if she has tweaked something.

Thought Harriet was returning especially well today. A good win, Zanevska was decent too.

Interesting. Lissey wasn't on the singles entry lists (accordig to Darts) and would have been around 14th Alt. Jana Fett has gained 10 places in the entry list.

Its not common for doubles entries to sign into qualies as an on site alt on the off chance of a bit of extra pocket money and it does look like they ran out of entered players.

It's a bit of an expensive trip for Lissey and Liv for 1 tournament on doubles prize money. I can't see them getting into the USO.

Yup, they are 8 out of the main draw. No Sam, is she injured? Shame after finally getting up into the top 100 and able to play the big events she's not doing so.

R2: DART, Harriet (GBR) 93 (CH=84 2022) v PARRIZAS DIAZ, Nuria (ESP) (5) 64 (CH=45 2022)
They met in Sharm El Sheikh in 2014 when Nuria was the top seed and Harriet the 7th seed Harriet won 2 &1

Hardly seems fair that they miss out on a Grand Slam because of a system that favours singles players who barely play doubles the rest of the season.

True unless you honestly think that those singles players are better at doubles and therefore it's ensuring the best standard.....which may well be true

Harriet had a couple of break points. Interesting match up this one, not dissimilar players.

Unfortunately the commentary has the lady whose voice really grates on me for some reason (and also doesn't seem to have any real tennis knowledge).

1-1*

As is common, GB matches on at overlapping times. Can't decide whether to stick with Harriet or switch to Em and Ingrid. And then there's Liv and Lissey which might overlap as well. Guess I'll switch to Em and Ingrid, as I expect Harriet's match could be somewhat longer.

Harriet broken from *40-15 then misses 5 break points.

*2-5
