I wonder when the last time we had Brits both sides of the finals net might have been? Anyone know? At WTA tour level ..:

I can't think of any at WTA level in recent years - none of our current players anyway. There are numerous occasions at ITF level i the last five years though.

Of course, I imagine many of the domestic ITFs have all Brit finals, but WTA will be quite unique - or a 3/4 Brits final at least !

The only one I have come up with is Virginia Wade/Greer Stevens v Sue Barker/Anne Kiyomura-Hayashi at Oakland in February 1980 !!

I can find W100 and W60 finals, but nothing above that level in recent years. (I didn't even bother looking at the W25, W15 and W10's !)

So, feels like a notable moment !

Daria got a walkover into the singles final, so it's probably Shibahara who withdrew

It was actually Daria that pulled out of doubles, due to left ankle injury

Interesting. She's still playing singles, and is about to start the final

Presumably it was a cautionary withdrawal or the injury wasnt real, so she was ready for the singles.

Fun fact about Van Der Hoek: she contested 27 doubles finals at 10k level before she was able to make the step up to 25k finals. And here she is now in her second 250k final. That's some impressive perseverance.

The MTB was a bit different though. That was rather efficient.

Championees, further new CHs, and GB #1 and #2, Lissey and Olivia

Lissey & Liv take it 10-1 in the MTB! :)

I love how they encourage each other so well, and smile and have fun on court; so good to see. The WTA calendar is such that there have been very few 250s on hard since their first final in Lyon, but there are 5 more before the end of the year, so hopefully they can push on higher even if they can't make the US Open.

One thing I don't quite get is their hand signals and agreements when returning - obviously this is par for the course now when serving, but surely all your movements on return are dictated by the direction of serve? So what are they agreeing on? No doubt I'm missing something!
