Week 34 - ATP 250 - Winston-Salem, NC, USA (outdoor hard)

Jack is ranked 40 in the live race so is atleast playing that at level although realistically he's playing higher given that those above him will have been benefitting from playing higher level tournaments and will often have been seeded. There won't be anyone in the draw that would be happy playing him in the 1st round

He's also getting steadily better so indeed even this year's race begins to underrank his current general level.

Jamie and Matt seem a decent pairing. Not seen any US entries, is Jamie back with Bruno?

Jack lost his QF 4 and 4 cry

On paper a bit of a disappointing result and from what bit I saw when awoken by my bladder, he wasn't quite at his best but tbf Huesler is clearly on form and having a good week. Mixed it up well, lots of variety, creating lots of angles, moving Jack around and keeping him off balance with the occasional serve and volley. Jacks serve perhaps not quite at its best either eg 2 consecutive DFs to get broken at 4-4 in the first.

Never mind, onwards and upwards, tough 1R Open draw to prepare for.

Disappointing but I won't complain about any extra time on the US open practice courts. Especially as his first round is a toughie.
