The point is its a weak challenger field because of the US Open. Its rare to have a challenger with no player ranked within the top 250.
Its exactly why Billy and Ali are camped here for the month. Both should be top 250 by the end of it. Ali might even make it without winning much.
As far as I can see most of the 9 ATP Challenger 50s so far this year have had either no-one in the top 250 or just one or two.
I do agree though that while less points than higher value challengers they often look very good options against the rewards, both monetary and pointswise, available from M25s.
Sadly a very quick service game to love and Billy is out. Oh well 2 more chances in the next couple of weeks to get some good points. Might just need time to adjust to the surroundings. Maybe all 4 will do better for next week. Just Ali left.
Ali G moves into the top 250 rankings now at 249, plenty in front of him with points to drop so more or less secured in the top 250.
9/10
Good luck to Billy in the next 3 weeks, a few QF as per his seeding would do it
Ali is not exactly secure yet for next Monday given this week's points coming off are already accounted for and the number of players that could still pass him.
So he might need at least one more win.
But yes good chance anyway to get the wins to absolutely confirm top 250, and if not this week should get there in the coming weeks.
Its not secure for this week but he will be top 250 post US Open, there are more inactive players and points dropping off than possible from those below him. My count makes it 250 exactly worst case scenario.
