Jay has lost his last 10 matches in Grand Slam qualifying. His only wins have been in his first two tournaments, a FQR at Wimbledon in 2017 and a QR2 at the French Open in 2018. Since then 9 first round losses.

Stinker for Jay tbh. I fancy Liam, Ryan should win but is he match fit. Paul not sure. 2 wins here?

If Paul plays as well as he did against Kyrgios at Wimbledon and Ryan plays as well as he did in the grass court swing then both should win.

I really want Ryan to qualify too though I have no idea who's in his section or lying in wait each round.

As with the women, this is pretty much as good as you could hope.
Yes, Jay has a really tough one but as pointed out, he's not got a good record in qualis and is the least in form too...

Has Ryan been injured too? After his grass exploits I expected him to push on in the North American hardcourt season, but he's not been seen since Wimbledon.

He seems to have taken time out to draw breath and a training block(?)

Yeah, he was a break up at 4-3, I think it was, too - but lost the next few games easily. Only watched a few balls though - no real idea how the match went

Liam is going to have go the long way round if he's going to be the 20 year-old freshman from Arizona

Lost the first set, 3-6

But experience may well tell - Murphy was all abuzz at the start, playing a big game - harder to keep it up and close it out

Nice to see Eden Silva there, supporting.

The two of them are still solid then, I assume

And Liam's brother too

Dreadful tiebreak from Cassone. Thankfully!
