Week 34 - US Open men's qualifying

Liam wins 6-1 in the 3rd. Cassone only 20 though, might be one to watch.

Watched most of the match bar the last few games. Liam perhaps a bit fortunate his opponent cramped because he was perhaps 2nd best until that moment. But then again he put so much into the first set and a half that the level was always going to hard. Liam never gives up though. Heres hoping for a few more wins

Dreadful tiebreak from Cassone. Thankfully!

Yeah, Liam dodged a bullet in that match really

But all good in the end - the young wildcard can feel very proud of how he played (if a little disappointed) and Liam can move on and think about the next match

Has Ryan been injured too? After his grass exploits I expected him to push on in the North American hardcourt season, but he's not been seen since Wimbledon.

He seems to have taken time out to draw breath and a training block(?)

Might have been an idea to play at least one tournament before trying to qualify for the Open but time will tell if it was a good decision I suppose.

You're watching the wrong match CD - shouldn't you be out on Court 14 with Barry White ?

Oh, don't worry - I've got Court 14 streaming on my phone on my left - with, yes, the sound cranked up biggrin

Doesn't he sound amazing?? (Although if I were a player I think I'd find it annoying - the way he says LOVE-forty - as though it's a big shock, and what are you going to do about it, huh?)

Set all as Ryan levels the match by taking the second by 6-2.

The bits I saw, Ryan was outpowered by his opponent. I'm not convinced Ryan will do too well on fast hard courts.

He is much more suited to grass or clay where power is not always dominant.

He was umpiring a match I was watching at last years Wimbledon, it's not just his voice, his mannerisms are fascinating too, It was the Hurkacz/Musetti match I think and I was finding it hard not to just watch him.

Got up at 1am in the hope of watching Draper only to find he wasn't on till 1.50am so watched a few games of Jubb v Bellier instead.

When Jubby went a set and 4-1 down I retired back to bed.

But checked my phone on waking up just and whaddya know - he won 5-7 6-4 6-4!! biggrin

Great comeback Jubby! Plays Pedro Sousa in QR2.

Liam and Jubby go again this evening - well done Paul in coming back!
